Start with these quick journaling exercises, spending just 10 minutes at a time on each. Then check out Create Write Now’s new workbook, Pay Yourself First! 7 Days Money Mastery Journaling Challenge , to address more of your money concerns and further your financial goals. You will feel calmer, stronger and more financially fit in no time!
1. What is the best financial advice you’ve ever received? Who gave it to you and when? Did you follow it at the time or not? Why do you think this piece of advice is applicable to your life?
2. What is your “kryptonite” when it comes to saving money or spending responsibly? Are you a shopaholic? Do you have the travel bug? Are you a foodie who loves to wine and dine in style? Write about your greatest spending weakness and how it gets you off track from your financial goals.
3. If you were to set a goal of saving $5 every day, how could you change your habits to reach it? Would you make coffee at the office instead of buying a latte or bring your lunch from home instead of going out with co-workers? Brainstorm different ways you could make small changes to your daily habits to save money.
4. Explore how you deal with money stress. Do you avoid the issues and hope they will go away on their own? Do you channel your worry into another activity, such as working, eating or exercising? Do you think you handle financial situations in a healthy or unhealthy manner?
5. What does your Inner Critic (that nagging, negative voice in your head) say most often when you think about money? What is the recurring theme? What would your Inner Coach (your positive, supportive internal voice) say to counteract that message?
