Journaling letter to Santa

In all the hustle and bustle of well, the holiday hustle and bustle, I’ve decided to take some moments (with moral support from some herbal peppermint tea and Green & Black's organic dark chocolate) and get started on a gratitude list for all the practical magical gifts my Journal has presented me.

Dear Santa,

Just want you to know how well behaved my Journal has been this year so please respond accordingly:

1. All the Time

Inside my world now are continuous tidings of comfort and joy. My journaling provides literal lessons (I mean words and phrases just show up!) and become prompts for more journaling or mantras I internalize and use daily, like “it will all work out.” BTW, “Journaling for the Health of It” was one of those phrases and I made a company out of it. My Journaling reminds me to breathe more, meditate more and gives me a swift kick to the derriere to get me to the page each day—no matter the time, no matter the place. When I’m out of sorts or can’t seem to get away from myself or don’t know where I’m at or feel that I can’t go on,  My Journal is write there for me.

2. My Body is a Wonderland

Today, I am my own primary care provider. I have not used prescription drugs in over 6 years. I cured my case of Shingles in just 3 weeks with intense journaling which lead me to a naturopathic doctor, some natural supplements and better eating habits and content. I stress myself out less about my aches, pains and discomforts and reach for my Journal first rather than the drugstore or the medical doctor’s office. I am making progress on all my other physical maladies whether they have a medical name (like Multiple Sclerosis) or not.

3. Celebrate Me Home

"If someone in your life talked to you the way you talk to yourself, you would have left them long ago." - Carla Gordon. Carla created that quote for me. I’ve met my Inner Critics, fought with them, turned the tables on them and now choose to manage them with a new executive, My Inner Coach.

4. Songs Sung True

I am a real singer. I perform in public needing only a cane for support, make CDs and practice every day just like my Journaling. My journal escorted me as I traveled back to my St. Bernard School childhood where I discovered that what I was told about my lack of musicality was incorrect.  My current voice teachers confirm that I am a tone deft alto.

So Santa, this list is a glorious starting point, wouldn’t you say?

P.S. I came upon this verse so clear from a Christmas card I'd created in my yesteryear:

We want Santa, yes we do
Can hardly wait, he's overdue
We never stop, we never wait
We drive ourselves past way too late
We surf the Net, traverse the malls
Scour the attics, more deck the halls
But when we dare time with our Journal selves
Then we'll catch Santa and all the elves!

Now hear me exclaim as I pen my delight,
Happy Christmas to all and to all a Great Write!

Mari
