Here are three ways I use my writing journal to help me sleep well at night.
There is something so healing about writing. Writing can help us in many areas of our lives including getting a good night sleep.
Here are my top three ways to use my journal to get a good night sleep:
- Write away my worries. Somehow when I write things down and for a moment allow myself to contemplate the worst case scenario… it doesn’t seem as bad (when it is written down on paper) as when it continues to spin and fester in my “monkey mind”.
- Write a prayer. Having a conversation with God write before I turn out the light fills me with a sense of being loved, cared for, and peace.
- Write a list. Whether it is my list of favorite movies, places I wish to visit, or a list of the all- time great songs to listen to while working out… the listing is a pleasurable and very relaxing activity. Before I know it I am ready to go to sleep.
“If you can't sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It's the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep. “ ~ Dale Carnegie
