Seasonal affective disorder, also known as SAD, is associated with the changes in the season. Symptoms show up around the fall and continue through the winter months. The late sunrise and early sunsets eliminate hours of that natural sunlight that can help boost your mood. Experts say exposure to sunlight increases serotonin levels, also known as the happy hormone, which signals happiness.
